CodeFathom is a product of BackHome Technologies LLC. We build local-first semantic indexing for CLI code agents. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and how we keep repo context local by default.

Local-first by design
Your repo contents, embeddings, and symbol indexes are generated and stored on your machine unless you explicitly share them.
No cloud vector DB by default
CodeFathom does not upload your code to a managed vector database to deliver core functionality.
You control sharing
If you contact support or enable optional services, you decide what files or logs are shared.
How CodeFathom works
The local indexer parses your repo to build an AST, symbol graph, and embeddings. The MCP server retrieves only the minimal code slices needed by your agent, keeping the prompt focused on intent and decisions.
Data we process
Account and workspace data
Name, email, role, and workspace settings needed to create and manage accounts.
Billing data
Plan selection, invoices, and payment metadata. Payment details are handled by Stripe and we do not store full card numbers.
Usage and diagnostics
Context Bandwidth Credit usage, tool call counts, request timestamps, performance metrics, and error logs used to operate, secure, and improve the service.
Support communications
Information you provide when you contact support, including files or logs you choose to share.
Local repo data
Source code, embeddings, and symbol indexes are generated and stored locally. CodeFathom does not receive repo contents unless you explicitly share them.
Cookies and tracking
We use essential cookies to remember preferences (like locale) and maintain sessions. We also use Google Analytics for internal use only to understand site usage and improve performance and the product.
How we use data
Provide and secure the service, process billing, deliver support, improve reliability, and comply with legal obligations.
Data sharing and processors
We share data with service providers that help us operate the product (such as Firebase for authentication, Stripe for payments, and Google Analytics for site metrics). We may share information when required by law or in connection with a business transfer.
International data transfers
We may process data in the United States and other jurisdictions where our service providers operate.
Data retention
We retain account and billing data as long as needed to provide the service and meet legal obligations. If you request deletion, we delete or anonymize data and may retain limited records for up to 90 days.
Security
We use administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect your information. No system is 100% secure.
Your choices and rights
Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or export your data, and to object to certain processing.
Children's privacy
CodeFathom is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
